- Camp Zama, Atsugi Navy for families
- Thank you for always using Momikaru Zama store.
I am Shimizu, the manager of Momikaru Zama store.
Two years have passed since we opened, and the number of customers has steadily increased, and our recognition is also increasing.
Today, I would like to tell you about my six-month study abroad in the United States.
After taking an aptitude test at Osaka Yao Airport, run by our partner company, Japan Flying Service Co., Ltd., I enrolled in the flight training center of MAZEEI FLYING SERVICE in Fresno, California, USA.
Here, I was very well looked after by the American staff and trained in private fixed-wing aircraft, mainly Cessnas, for six months.
Based at Fresno International Airport near Yosemite National Park, about an hour's flight from Los Angeles, I conducted solo training in Long Beach, Napa, Sacramento, Santa Monica, Madera, Santa Barbara, and Monterey.
During night flight training, I flew through the mountains and was in trouble because I didn't know the direction of my destination, but I relied on the VOR to fly and was guided by the radar vector on the runway, and somehow managed to arrive at my destination. I was worried every day.
Also, during my first solo landing, the tires bounced a lot, but I managed to endure it. This gave me confidence, and when practicing touch-and-go, I was able to raise the nose and land smoothly.
I think the extremely valuable experience I gained during this study abroad is useful in my current life, and I would like to express my respect for the family-oriented Americans.
Momikaru Zama store is located near the base, so I would like American families to visit us.
I hope it will become a place of healing and a place of brief respite for American families.
