- Memories of Tempura and Nails
- Recently, I had the chance to sit next to a American couple at a tempura restaurant. My friend asked them, "What brings you to Japan?" The wife replied, "It's our honeymoon," and her husband said with a smile, "We dated for 10 years and got married. I'm lucky."
The wife’s hands were beautifully decorated with green magnet nails, and I couldn't help but notice. I exclaimed, "You're wearing nails!" She then asked, "Do you know these?" and my friend quickly told her, "She’s a nail artist."
I showed her some nail samples I had with me. She pointed to a sunflower design and said, "I like this." As a surprise, I gifted her a sample nail tip as a wedding gift.
We toasted each other with sake to celebrate, and it turned into a wonderful and joyful moment. Of course, the tempura was absolutely delicious!
This encounter, along with the delicious tempura, became a memorable and heartwarming experience for me.
