- Understanding True Craftsmanship A Visit to Honkogetsu, OsakaRecently, I had the opportunity to visit Honkogetsu, one of Osaka’s most respected traditional Japanese restaurants.
What left the strongest impression on me was not only the taste of the food, but the deep attention to seasonality, presentation, and movement.
Each dish was served on carefully selected tableware that reflected the current season.
The ingredients were not used to impress with complexity, but chosen and treated with great respect, bringing out their natural peak flavor.
What truly stood out was the precision and beauty of the gestures.
Every movement was calm, intentional, and without excess.
It was clear that nothing was accidental everything had meaning.
This experience reminded me that true value doesn’t need to be explained; it can be felt.
As a hairdresser, I see a strong connection between this philosophy and my own work.
Hair design is not only about trends. It’s about understanding the season, the person’s lifestyle, and their natural character then creating something balanced, refined, and personal.
Technique alone is not enough.
Atmosphere, communication, and even the way we move all contribute to the final experience.
My visit to Honkogetsu was a powerful reminder of what it means to focus on the essence of craftsmanship.
I aim to bring this same mindset into my work and my service at the salon.KEN
